I am going to show you how to make a simple installer or setup file from your jar file. It is very simple and easy. Just follow the steps. If you want, you can download my jar file from here.
I used a software called Advanced Installer for this purpose.
Step 1 :
First launch Advanced Installer. You will see a dialog where you can choose the type of the project you want to create. Select Java application by double clicking it.
Step 2 :
The Project Details page will be opened by default. If not then click on it. Then fill the product name and company name field.
Step 3 :
Click on Files and Folders , then right click on Application Folder , then click on Add Folder (See the red mark). Here, the folder, you are adding actually contains the jar file of of your java project. You need to put your jar file in a folder, because you are adding folder here.
Step 4 :
Then click on Java Products(1). Then right click on products(2), then click New Product(it is not shown here, but it will appear on a popup menu if you right click on products ) and rename the product name. Then click on JAR(s)…(3) and select the jar file from the folder you added previously.
Step 5 :
Go to Virtual Machine tab and select minimum and maximum jre (Java Runtime Environment) version.
Step 6:
Click on Files and Folders — > Application Folder –> then click on (Name of Exe) .exe file –> click on Shortcut to, then a dialog will be appeared.Don’t need to change anything. But you can add an icon for your application here.
You can also add an uninstaller shortcut here. Just right click on shortcut file, then click New Shortcut to and click uninstall.
Step 7 :
Every thing is done. Now need to build your project. press f7 or click build icon.
Now run your installer or setup file and enjoy.
